CONTEXT
Through its partnership with Agrisud, Club Med has been progressively modifying its supply chain since 2009 to create and share more values locally.
In Brazil, the project operates with 2 Club Med villages in 2 States: São Paulo, and Bahia.
In each of these two States, the aim is to strengthen the capacities of small family farms in vulnerable situations, so that they can provide part of the Club Med villages supplies.
The challenges are numerous for these farms: securing production despite climatic hazards (drought/ floods), improving and maintaining productivity in a context of soil fertility loss, reducing the use of chemicals…
Agrisud has been working with its partners since 2009 in the State of Rio, and more recently in the States of São Paulo (2018) and Bahia (2022).
OBJECTIVES
Developing local supply chains according to a win-win principle:
- Club Med villages benefit from quality local agroecological products, traceability and a positive image valued with their customers;
- Family farms improve their practices to produce quality products, in quantity and regularity, and benefit from new sales channels.
RESULTS
- 2 family farm cooperatives assisted in their development
- Local and agroecological supply chains established with the villages (7 tons of agroecological products sold on average each year with Rio das Pedras village and 12 tons with Lake Paradise village)
- Commercial partnerships established between cooperatives and Club Med villages
