BACKGROUND

Through its partnership with Agrisud, Club Med has been gradually modifying its supply chain since 2009 to create and share more value locally.

In Senegal, the project is being implemented in the Cap Skirring area of Lower Casamance. While the area is considered rich and varied, thanks to its forests, bolongs and food crops (rice and groundnuts), market gardening and fruit growing remain underdeveloped, given the high demand for fruit and vegetables in the tourism sector.

Since 2019, Agrisud has been supporting family farms to improve the supply of fresh produce and increase the proportion of local purchases in supplies to the Club Med village in Cap Skirring.

GOALS

Develop a local supply chain based on a win-win principle:

RESULTS

  • 1 EIG* supported in the development of its activities: the GIE Batiaye, which groups together some 180 market gardeners.
  • 1 supply chain for local, agro-ecological produce set up with the Club Med village (an average of 14 t delivered each season).
  • 1 commercial partnership established between the GIE and the Club Med village in Cap Skirring.
  • 1 new sales channel with a knock-on effect: partnership with Casamasanté in Senegal to purchase and redistribute baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables to vulnerable families in the region.

* Economic Interest Grouping
