The opening of the photo exhibition "Sustainable food: the territories get involved!" took place on Thursday, September 22nd at the Parc départemental des Chanteraines.
Organized toghether with the Department of Hauts-de-Seine (CD92), as part of its decentralized cooperation with the Province of Siem Reap in Cambodia, Agrisud and Gret, this exhibition illustrates their common actions for healthy and sustainable agriculture.
The event took place in the presence of a delegation from the Province of Siem Reap led by the Vice-Governor, Mr. Kimleang ING, and Mrs. Marie-Laure GODIN, Vice-President of the Department of Hauts-de-Seine in charge of international relations and cooperation and European affairs.
Strong challenges for the territories
During the opening speeches, the representatives of the 2 local authorities, CD92 and the Province of Siem Reap, expressed their satisfaction with the results of their collaboration since 2013: 4,170 beneficiaries, more than 1,500 training courses provided, 90% of increase in the average annual income of supported families.
These results contribute to major challenges in the fight against poverty, local economic development and food security.
They also put into perspective the important work that remains to be done - together - to develop healthy and sustainable agriculture.
On this occasion, Agrisud recalled its particular attachment to Cambodia, where collaborations are very old and have made it possible to support 8,000 family farms.
Our Chairman, Joël Lebreton, point out the relevance of the actions in the current context, where health, economic and climate shocks have highlighted the need to support efficient and resilient agricultural models.
« This is exactly what we are doing together in Siem Reap in 8 municipalities, with 1,870 families and around 30 professional agricultural organizations... and this is what we want to keep doing at the scale of the Province to develop sustainable food systems.»
Discover the exhibition from September 22nd to November 7th, at the Ferme du Parc départemental des Chanteraines.
