Launched 15 years ago, the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel project would have achieved only 4% of its objectives according to the implementation status report produced by the UNCCD in 2020..

However, its ambition as much as its relevance are right and urgent. This pan-African initiative aims to combat desertification, land degradation and the effects of global warming, including extreme events such as droughts. This while seeking to improve the living conditions of the populations.

How to boost this process? For more and more actors, one of the keys is in the mobilization of private productive investment.

On the occasion of the Desertification and Drought Day, Agrisud International, CARI and SOS SAHEL recall the necessary conditions for this investment.
