CONTEXT
The populations of Hoàng Liên National Park (HLNP) live largely from agriculture, forestry, and handicrafts.
Families are faced with many difficulties including the lack of agricultural land (increase in demography, classification in 2002 of the territory as protected natural park with the prohibition to open new fields...) and the climatic risks that affect among other things the cultivation of cardamom, the main source of income for many families.
In addition to these difficulties, there are problems with selling agricultural products on local markets due to remote production areas, the lack of processing and storage capacities, and the lack of information on markets.
It is in this context that Agrisud has been operating since 2017, within the framework of a decentralized cooperation between the Province of Lao Caï and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
GOALS
Support the development of agricultural systems in the HLNP area, while helping to preserve natural resources.
And more specifically :
- Strengthen and federate players around territorial projects conducive to agro-ecological transition.
- Support family farms in their agro-ecological transition.
- Promote sustainable and inclusive agricultural development through skills transfer and awareness-raising.
RESULTS
- 840 family farms supported in the diversification and development of their activities
- 30 agricultural cooperatives strengthened to facilitate the sale of products among other things
- 15 development agents from 3 municipalities and population aware of sustainable and inclusive development in the HLNP territory
