COP in Baku: there is an urgent need to mobilize more resources, particularly for agricultural resilience in the South and to prevent the climate crisis turning into a food crisis.

NGOs gathered at COP29 in Baku will be calling for a climate financing target of $1,000 billion a year - ten times the previous target - to meet urgent needs for mitigation, adaptation, and management of loss and damage caused by climate change. This investment is needed to support energy transitions, strengthen agricultural resilience, and address the growing impacts of global warming, particularly in the South, where needs are amplified by economic and climate vulnerabilities.
