To celebrate this anniversary, Agrisud invited partners, friends and donors on Wednesday, November 30 in Paris. This convivial evening took place in the warm setting of the Hôtel de Pomereu, kindly made available free of charge by the Caisse des Dépôts.
By way of introduction, Joël Lebreton, Agrisud's chaiman, recalled the triptych that guides the interventions in the field: Enterprise, Agroecology and Territories. He then reviewed the results of the last 30 years: 80,000 VSEs supported, nearly 500 organizations trained and 400,000 people lifted out of poverty thanks to the work and commitment of the field teams who act on a daily basis.
This convincing record encourages us to go further:
"We want to make the most of the experiences and expertises accumulated over the past 30 years to become a reference player in the effective implementation of sustainable agricultural development in Southern countries, on demonstrative scales that would produce exemplary effects. I believe that this ambition is realistic."
Hubert Védrine, a member of Agrisud's Board of Directors, then said a few words underlining the remarkable results achieved by "a small NGO with a great cause". He also recalled the importance of bringing Agrisud's advocacy in international bodies in the face of global food and environmental issues.
Matthieu Le Grix, head of the Agriculture, Rural Development and Biodiversity Division at the French Development Agency (AFD) closed the speeches. He praised the effectiveness of the AFD-Agrisud partnership through the solidity of the actions undertaken together, such as in Congo and Gabon 30 years ago, which are still ongoing today. Agrisud is recognized for its implementation of a pragmatic and efficient agro-ecology.
That evening, alongside the Agrisud teams represented by their general manager, Elphège Ghestem Zahir, 70 guests were able to discuss their common commitment. Among them were members of Agrisud's board of directors and guidance board, as well as numerous partners: AFD, the Hauts-de-Seine Department, AIMF, SIAAP, L'Oréal, Chanel, the Compagnie fruitières endowment fund, BNPP Fondation, A Tree for You, Groupe Initiatives and several of its members, CFSI, CEAS, Fert, etc., as well as donors and friends, notably members of Robert Lion's family.
