The Festival ALIMENTERRE ended on November 30, 2022. More than 560 students attended the screenings and debates organized by Agrisud and its partners. A look back at the events that took place in Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and Madagascar.
Ivory Coast: family farming & territorial development
The two films screened, from Agrisud's projects in Senegal and Vietnam, allowed students from the IGT (Institute of Tropical Geography, attached to the University Houphouët-Boigny of Abidjan) to react on common issues related to climate change and the difficulties encountered by family farms. The screening-debate was also an opportunity to present the work carried out by the IGT and Agrisud, within the framework of the PROFIT project, in order to plan the development of sustainable agriculture in the village of Adattié.
Senegal: family farming & food sovereignty
After watching the film "Tapis Vert", from the official selection of the Festival ALIMENTERRE, the students interacted with the different speakers (coordinator and Senegalese Focal Point of the Festival ALIMENTERRE, representative of Agrisud International, director of the Vocational Training Center of Fatick, coordinators of associations ...) on the importance of family farming and agro-ecology to develop a sustainable food in Senegal. They were also able to become aware of the role they can play as future producers or simply as consumers.
Madagascar: fish farming & agro-ecology
In partnership with APDRA - Pisciculture Paysanne and the University of Itasy, the screening-debate focused on the challenges faced by rice-fish farming due to irregular rainfall. Techniques developed to increase and secure fish production, a source of additional income and food security, were also presented. The students were very interested in the subject and were able to discuss directly with a rice-fish farmer. The session, co-organized with the University teachers, helped to enrich the theoretical inputs of the school program.
